FIBROTEST AT THE AASLD 2008
The AASLD (American Assosiation for the Study of Liver Disease), the most important medical congress in the liver disease field gathering thousands of hepatology specialists from all over the world, took place in San Francisco from October 31 to November 4, 2008. There has never been so much talk about non-invasive liver tests before.

For the first time, this hepatology conference brought together two important events:
  • The 59th AASLD Liver Meeting
  • The 50th anniversary convention of the IASL (International Association for the Study of the Liver).

This year non-invasive assessment of liver fibrosis was one the most important topics indicated by the scientific committee of the Liver Meeting. During these parallel conferences, more that 20 scientific studies, three General Assemblies and two special sessions discussed non-invasive approaches for the diagnosis of liver fibrosis, which continue to have a growing recognition and in which FibroTest (Biopredictive S.A.S, France) is the leader and pioneer.

The AASLD conferences provided a positive coverage for non-invasive liver disease tests and from now on, the experts’ opinions on “modern” diagnostic tools will include the non-invasive assessment of hepatic fibrosis.

During a plenary session in which the subject “Non-invasive markers of fibrosis” was chosen by the AASLD President, an update on non-invasive biomarkers and their clinical utility was provided to optimize the management and the follow-up of patients with fibrotic liver disease.

FibroTest, as the most validated non-invasive serum biomarker, was one of the main focus with a large number of presentations, sessions and workshops during the Liver Meeting 2008.
