Why use Fibrotest & Fibromax ?
Revolutionary safe diagnostics for liver diseases: FibroTest and FibroMax

FibroTest and FibroMax are non-invasive, quick and reliable tests, validated by numerous studies in the most common liver injuries caused by Hepatitis B (1), Hepatitis C (2), metabolic disorders (3) and alcohol abuse (4), by only using a simple blood sample.

Contract FibroTest and FibroMax: the patient's best diagnostic option?

The tests consist of a simple blood test then the analysis of specific blood markers, using a patented algorithm to provide a precise diagnosis for the 5 most common liver injuries (caused by Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV-HCV co-infected, metabolic disorders and alcohol abuse).

  • FibroTest ® is the combination of FibroTest® & ActiTest® (FibroSure in the USA)
    • FibroTest: for Fibrosis assessement
    • ActiTest: for viral inflammation assessment
  • FibroMax® is the combination of up to five non-invasive liver tests:
    • FibroTest
    • ActiTest
    • SteatoTest: for Steatosis assessement
    • AshTest: for alcoholic steato-hepatitis inflammation assessment
    • NashTest: for non-alcoholic steato-hepatitis inflammation assessment
These algorithms (diagnosis and results) have been scientifically validated and quality-monitored to ensure that the results delivered are of the highest analytical standards.

The validation and analytical standardization of FibroTest-ActiTest® and FibroMax® have been established in over 50 clinical studies.
All these studies support the scientific rationale that FibroTest is a universal marker of fibrosis and as such the new method for liver fibrosis diagnostic.

Contract Process: 4 easy steps !

  1. The doctor writes a prescription for FibroTest® or FibroMax®
  2. With this prescription, the patient presents to an approved laboratory (list available at www.biopredictive.com), where a blood sample is taken from the patient.
  3. A Biologist / lab technician enters the value for each found biomarkers directly on our secure web site.
  4. The algorithm is automatically performed and diagnostic results immediately generated.

Test results and interpretation
FibroTest and FibroMax give an easy reading of the diagnostic results of the patient’s liver injuries (Fibrosis, Cirrhosis, and Inflammation) :

  • Minimal score: may require patient's annual follow up ' See your Physician for recommendation
  • Moderate score: require treatment or closer follow up ' See your Physician for recommendation
  • Significant score: Treatment and monitoring ' See your Physician for recommendation

Contract Epidemiology: An alarming risk of fibrosis worldwide

Chronic liver disease is responsible for over 1.4million deaths annually (WHO, World Health Report 2004) and in the US is among the top ten disease related causes of death (CDC, National Center for Health Statistics, 2004).

Statistical analysis estimated that about 1.700 billion people worldwide present with risk factor of developing liver fibrosis:

  • About 300 million with fibrosis risk due to viral hepatitis B
  • About 180 million with fibrosis risk due to viral hepatitis C
  • About 600 million with fibrosis risk due to metabolic disorders
  • About 600 million with fibrosis risk due to excessive alcohol consumption

One of the most studied causes of liver fibrosis is the viral hepatitis C. The report on this disease is quiet alarming. Around 80% of the HCV infected patients remain undiagnosed in Europe and the US.

The impact of this lack of diagnosis is that HCV is responsible for 40% of liver cirrhosis, 60% of liver cancers and 40% of Liver transplants.

  • (4) ASH (AFLD): Alcoholic steatohepatitis is caused by drinking too much alcohol which develop significant inflammation to your liver - (ALD: Acoholic Fatty Liver disease)
